      04 GTO alternator not charging

I am trying to use an 04 GTO alternator in an application that is wired as an 02 Pontiac firebird. The alternator in an 02 is controlled by the PCM. In the 04 it is controlled by a "DC Sense" wire that just runs back to the battery.

IN my application I have my battery in the trunk. I have a 2 gauge wire running up to the engine fuse block. At the fuse block I have both wires from the alternator, charge and control(DC sense).

I do not know if because the control wire it not going all the way back to the battery is the cause for it not working.

What is this DC sense wire looking for in order to allow for alternator to charge? Could I possible tie it to the PCM alternator control wire?

      Any insight is appreciated.

If your battery cable is run up to the starter, you can connect the sensing wire there. I've not wired the GTO alt, but I've converted a bunch of cars to CI130's. The other problem, is the trunk mounted battery. Any voltage drop, from front to back, can cause charging problems.

If its pcm controled the alt may have wrong regulator inside, be carefull or alt can burn up
