How much caster is too much?

Just got my 69 Camaro on the alignment rack and it has 9 degrees of caster. It is a non stock front end with coil overs and rack and pinion steering. I should be able to get some of the caster out but wondering how much I can get away with? The car will only be driven on the street but don't want to have to fight it to stay on the road.

Well, most foreign, "high end", performance cars...such as Mercedes, Lexus, some BMWs, have around 12 (ish) degrees of caster. Sumthin' to think about.

As you probly know, high caster is good for high speed stability, and returnability. The more caster you have though, the less road isolation.

Drive it and see if you like it. Should drive nice and straight on the road, hiway. If you plan to autocross it might need changed. I run ~7 myself.
