      Window Track Lube

What is the correct lube to use on the tracks and guides? Thanks.

White grease is usually recommended but I have also used the teflon stuff without any problems.

Restoration guide I have said to use the white litheum grease which is what I used.

One tip though is that if you are greasing the old original parts you would do well to clean out all the old existing grease first and then lube everything up. Eventually the old grease stops providing lubrication and inhibits the smooth operation of the parts. The biggest difference will come from the regulator crank mechanism if you can get the old grease out and then regrease.

Originally I cleaned all the tracks until spotless and reinstalled. Still worked poorly on drivers side. Ended up replacing the regulator due to a weak spring and whoa feels like a brand new car window going up and down.

Thanks. My windows and regulators have been sitting on the side of the house for two years and need a bit of cleaning. I was just pulling the slides to mount on the new electric life regulators and figured I better clean them and the rollers on the windows first.
