      gas mig welding

      What is so hard about using gas i see people say they havent gotten to gas yet is it harder or what enlighten me i just picked up a mig welder and have always been told gas is better because it gives you cleaner easier welds

      nothing is hard about it, in fact there are no real downsides to gas, just use c-25

      If you are welding in an area with limited ventilation like your garage in the winter on a below zero day you will notice a considerable difference in the fumes and smoke in the air, it also produces less sparks that will ruin other parts finishes.

      Gas is the way to go !

      Only downside I can think of would be welding outside in the wind where the gas can't shield well.

      I think a lot of people just don't take the extra step because you can weld without it and feel they are saving a few upfront bucks and bottle refills.

      Flux core also burns hotter.Better penetration on thicker materials.
