      Edelbrock pro flo upgrades

Well as an owner of the edelbrock system on my 406 sbc for several years, i have made a couple of essential upgrades.

The fuel pump that comes with the system is an Ok pump if your running the plain old rubber hose supplied with the kit. If your looking to run braided line, its almost impossible to find the correct fittings for the pump, I say almost cause some one has to make them , I couldnt find any though.
Any way the pump Is a good upgrade area. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
I ran 1/2 inch alum hard fuel line for both the feed and return, Braided hose at the ends and a aeromotive inline filter after the pump. -8 AN fittings, (2) 1/4 -8an 90's fittings for the engine side http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
these work great, especiallly for the return, you have to unbolt the return block to install it, feed just screws on.

The next issue to address is the Distributor. From day one I had problems with mine, from converting the old Hei over to just before the day I pulled it. I chased the symptoms of popping under a load all around from my dist cap, plugs , wires , and my current tune. Nothing fixed it. Well until I pulled the distrib. and bought this one, http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
A whole world of difference. I had to change my plug boot ends and get an external coil because I was running an Hei before though.

Stay away from cheap plug wires, if your not spending at least $80 for a set dont bother.

Another thing that I added was a fuel pressure gauge right to the fuel log, all you need is a gauge like this one and a couple of fittings.

You can put it at any corner of the fuel rail/log, I put mine in the drivers side rear. I had to buy an adapter fitting from 1/4 to 1/8 ntp then a 1/8 ntp street 90. I got them in stainless pipe from http://www.mcmaster.com/

      VACUUM PORTS!
Also If your out of vacuum ports and you want to run a PCV valve, pull the plug out on the passenger side of the throttle body and put yourself a 1/4 ntp barb fitting and hose there for your pcv. I ran my brake booster vac from the from the large front port, I did have a T in there for both but I was told that I could get oil in my booster and ruin it.
If you need additional vacuum ports ,maybe for you heater blend door, either drill and tap a 1/8 ntp hole in the intake before you install it or you can drill and tap the throttle body in one of 3 places. first chioce is on the front bottom of the throttle body, there is a semi flat boss just to the left of the large port, opposite the fuel regulator port, this will take a little skill cause you have to drill from the bottom as well as the front.
The other two places are on TB where the IAC valve bolts. Looking at the IAC from the rear of the TB, the 1:00 position there is a flat surface, it is Ok to drill and tap there, as well as a 3:00 position . the 3:00 position makes it a little difficult to get a socket on the TB nut that holds it down though.
You can reuse the throttle body gasket if your careful I reused mine 3 times and finally said that Im changing it this time. here is the gasket http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Well the edelbrock electronics are on their way out of my truck cause they wont support turbo's. intake and throttle body stay though. I just thought that I would post up this info since Its still fresh in my memory.
