      Throttle Linkage Help Needed

I have a 67 Camaro with mechanical linkage to the carb throttle. I put in a Lakewood Bell Housing and needed to bang in the firewall so the clutch fork would have clearance. Upon doing so the gas pedal doesn't travel all the way to the floor anymore (because the firewall was banged in where the pedal used to meet the floor).

Is there a way to make the mechanical linkage work using different geometry? My buddy told me to look into the Lokar cable linkage. Does anyone have pictures ot installing the cable linkage?

I have no clue how the cable linkage setup is supposed to accomodate less pedal travel - can anyone help me out with an explanation?

Personally - I HATE mechanical carb linkage... it never seems to work right.
The Lokar cable setup is a much better way to go

Every 1st gen needs to have the scattershield flange notched to clear the stock mechanical throttle linkage. If you don't want to do that then the Lokar throttle cable is the best bet. The cable setup replaces everything on the engine side of the firewall except for the firewall bushing. You will need a pedal assembly from a 6-cylinder car since those had cables stock.

You must have the Lakewood fork, since they hit the floor pan on 1st gens as well. A stock GM fork works and fits perfectly.

The engine and tranny are in the car now so I am hoping I can setup the Lokar cable linkage with everything in place how it is now. Should I be able to?

I will check out the 6cyl pedal assembly in the Classic Industries book and order it.

Shouldn't be that hard to setup I am assuming.

Yes, I used the Lakewood clutch fork ONLY because I thought I couldn't use the old GM clutch fork. I had to beat the living crap outta the floor pan to get the fork to clear - what a mess.

Do you have the Lokar cable on your car? If you get a chance can you snap a picture of the cable in your engine bay? I am just curious as to what it looks like.

Hmmm... Classic Industries and Rick's First Gen do not have the v6 Pedal Assembly listed in their books. Any idea where I can get the assembly?

Try eBay, Craigslist, etc. I've heard Lokar makes a complete assembly as well but I don't know how well they fit or operate.

The setup requires removal of the engine side mechanical arm and removal of the original pedal assembly. The new one slides in the same and is retained by an E-clip.

The cable goes through a flat-spot on the firewall directly above the pedal. You can't miss it.

I don't have the cable currently installed.
