      New Shoes

      New wheels are tires arrived.

275/40ZR17 Riken Raptor on 17x9 Cragar Soft 8.

This is a crappy pic, but it was the best I could do at the time. I'll get a better one this weekend.

I believe that you can have them ordered in a different BS. They had to make the rears for me.

The story on price went like this: I was going to order this setup from Summit for about $850 mounted and balanced, but a friend of mine suggested seeing if Discount Tire would match the price.

I went down to the local store, and sure enough, they matched the price. On top of that, Discount has a lifetime replacement guaruntee and flat repair. So, all said and done, I received the wheels, tires, lugs, mount & balance for ~$850.

With all of that said, yes, they're heavy as all get out. My goal is to have the car on the road this Spring. These fit the budget, and I like the looks. Plus, this is mostly a street car that will see some auto-x and strip time, but being the fastest guy out there isn't what I'm interested in. I just want to have fun in the car, and these will work just dandy.

Weight-wise, I'd put them about the same as a 15" rallye wheel.

You probably could have got away with a 245/45 up front, but those look great. I've always like those wheels for the price.

Oh, I just looked at those on the tire calculator at miata.net, and that would have been a good choice. I'll keep it in mind for next time.

Andrew, your car was the inspiration for the black wheels.

Are you going to put any kind of pinstripe detail around the lip of the rim? Just a thought.... My 15" D-windows came with a blue and red pinstripe and it worked to break-up all the black from the rim to the tire.

That's a good point, It is a lot of black, but I also like the sinister look of all black.
