      > It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynette
      > Christine Knackstedt, a very dear friend and loved one, in San
      > Francisco, CA, on December 7, 2007. Lynette, born April 26, 1970, in
      > Santa Clara, California, attended R.J. Fisher, Junior High School in
      > Los Gatos, CA and graduated from Los Gatos High School, Los Gatos, CA
      > in 1988. While attending Los Gatos High School, Lynette was a starting
      > center number 50, for the Girls Orange Crush basketball team. In the
      > early nineties Lynette moved to make San Francisco her home.
      >
      > Lynette attended college at De Anza Junior College and San Francisco
      > City College. She showed a strong commitment to continuing her
      > education while pursuing her true calling of music. Her incredible
      > musical talent, sparked by her father, led her and fellow band mates
      > to form Skankin'
      > Pickle. Skankin' Pickle was together from 1989-1997 and toured across
      > the United States and in Europe. They were known far and wide as one
      > of the greatest live ska bands, with amazing live performances and
      > playing in front of audiences as large as 11,000. During her time with
      > Skankin'
      > Pickle, Lynette and several band members formed a record label titled
      > Dill Records, of which she was President from 1992 to 2001 and in 1996
      > she received Favorite Female Performer from WOW Hall
      > (http://www.wowhall.org/).
      >
      > After her career with Skankin' Pickle, Lynette continued her music
      > with another former Skankin' Pickle Band member, Lars Nylander (now of
      > the Boars and the Impalers) in a group called 78 RPM's.
      > 78 RPM's played
      > together from 1997-2002 and toured through out the western part of the
      > United States.
      >
      > The most recent band that Lynette played in was Lucifer's Strip Club
      > Band, playing in a variety of clubs around the San Francisco Bay area.
      > In playing with Lucifer's Strip Club Band not only did she switch
      > musical genre's (from punk to jazz), but she branched out from playing
      > just guitar to bass guitar, and later, the drums (an instrument she
      > had always wanted to master).
      >
      > Lynette was inspired by many different musicians Jimi Hendrix, the
      > Indigo Girls, Devo, The Police, Van Morrison, Sound Garden, Kurt
      > Cobain and Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, the Beatles,
      > Sara McCloughlin, English Beat, Pearl Jam, Stan Goetz, Billie
      > Holladay, Kenny Logins, the GoGo's, Green Day and REM. Her love of
      > music stretched over many genres from classic rock, punk, new wave,
      > folk, reggae and jazz.
      > She had an amazing ability to pick up any musical style and master it
      > in a very short time. She had a very meticulous approach to hitting
      > every note or chord accurately, yet making it seem effortless.
      >
      > Lynette was also looked up to for her commitment to honor her own
      > integrity. She was an openly lesbian woman playing music and breaking
      > chauvinistic and homophobic patterns in the field of punk. Due to her
      > stage presence and openness about her sexuality, she was a role model
      > for many. Her larger than life appeal will be missed by all who have
      > had the opportunity to know her.
      >
      > Lynette was focused, driven and extremely committed to friends,
      > family, partners and her career. Lynette was a much loved daughter,
      > granddaughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, partner, pseudo-mother,
      > friend and musician. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
      > Her loved ones and fans are proud of her prolific musical career and
      > her ability to be true to herself. She is survived by her mother and
      > step-father, father, sisters, brothers, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins
      > and grandmother.
      >
      > Please join us in honoring the life of Lynette Christine Knackstedt at
      > a memorial concert on April 19th 2008 at 924 Gilman Street in
      > Berkeley, CA. The night will include Mike Park (former Skankin' Pickle
      > member), The Barfeeders, and Lucifer's Strip Club Band.
      > Proceeds will be donated
      > to the Ohlhoff Recovery Programs, 601 Steiner St.,San Francisco, CA
      > for drug awareness and recovery. Donations may also be made by calling
      > (415)
