I think most who have done it keep the original metal up front where the vin is and adapt the rest of the dash to it. If you do a search you should come across many posts from a former member https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/sh...t=4th+gen+dash who did several of those conversions.Camaroboy is still active over on http://www.lateral-g.net/ Good Luck.

I am putting a 98 Camaro dash in a 69. Have not finished it yet but to get the dash to fit I had to cut out the section where the vin is. My plan is to put the vin back on inside at the base of the windshield, kind of like how most new cars are set up. Hope there will be room just above where the goo that holds in the windshield goes.

I put one in my 67 so the vin is on the fire wall. If your car is register do you need it to show? I have never had any one look for a vin on my car. If you do need it to show,I would try make it a tag that is in front of the new dash. Randy
