      BBC Water Pump

I bought a Gen VI 502 that was complete with an electric water pump. I sold the electric pump and now I am looking for a mechanical pump. I have never bought a water pump before, so I don't have a clue if brand maters, short/ tall matter. What is the difference between short and tall pumps. This is going to be a street/show car with a pro-touring theme. Please help me out guys I am clueless.

      Thanks Dustin

The long and short fit with their matching belt acc. drives. In general, except vettes, 65-68 or so uses short pump. 69-90's use long pumps. If you are starting from scratch it wouldn't matter. If you were using factory power steering, and alternator, you may want to match the year on the vehicle.

You are going to want a short pump if you intend to run an electric fan.

can a mod delete this ^^^^^^^^^^^

Choose what aftermarket front runner set up you want first. I've always use edelbrocks with good results...I use a tru trac system from billet specialties on my 68'...
