      Digital Camera

I'm looking at a Nikon CoolPix P5100 digital camera for all around use. Anyone have this or have any recommendations.

      Here are two reviews.

I have a Nikon D40, very happy with it. Try to make it to a store and hold the camera. I found that some just feel awkward and require 2 hands to shoot pics. Even though my SLR is bigger and bulkier, I can easily shoot/carry with one hand.

When it comes to digital cameras under $250 Olympus has the best optics and on most models more versatility. Nikon,Canon and other high end camera manufactures farm out the cheaper optics and concentrate on the expensive end themselves.

I have had 2 Olympus cameras and liked them for the quality of the pics better than the others I have owned.

I looked at the Nikon quite a bit and almost bought a Canon at xmas for the wife until I looked at the Olympus I bought her.

If you do any Ebay selling the Olympus has 21 different settings and will take pics at a low enough resolution to not have to redo the size to put on the net. High megapixel numbers are nice but the D-380 Olympus I have is only 2.0 mp and it has always taken pics that are more than adequate and it is much more easier to use than the new camera for just simple stuff. Reducing the size of a pic to put on the net can make it look worse.

Goodluck on your decision because with sooo many out there and the different battery life and battery choices it is hard to not like AA batteries over the lithium ions when you are on the road and run out of power.
