      9 inch center help

I bought a ford 9 inch center section ( used ) for my housing and axles i have . What i do know is it is 35 spline MW spool , 4.56 gear and has a N on the case , Not sure if its a regular support or not . Iam needing to get a driveshaft made now and need to change from the 1330 series yoke that has 1.12500 caps on it to a 1350 series ( Which driveshaft will be ) . I can see if i can find a conversion joint somewhere , but the other problem i ran into is the th400 is a truck trans , so i need to get a new trans yoke as i get mixed input on using a reg. th400 yoke since the truck has a o-ring or something that stops the yoke from sliding in all the way .
I fiqure changing the yokes would be best . Is thier a way to tell with out taking it completly apart if it has a crush sleeve or a solid one ?

Only one of two ways to tell.

      1. Take a chance and try to tighten the pinion nut to see if it gets any tighter. (Not recommended)

      2. Pull just the pinion support out of the third member without pulling anything else... and pull the front pinion bearing out or completely disassemble. (Recommended)

After talking to a few more people , all said to use the reg. 400 yoke for the trans. Now all i need to do is find a large cap 1330 series to 1350 series and that will get me going with the new shaft . Has anyone used this conversion joint and know the number ?

chicane67 , Yes the caps are 1 1/8 . Between the two tabs on the rear yoke measure 3.625 . I had a friend drop off a th400 yoke today that is counterbored for the truck shaft but its a 3r/s44 series and i don't think it will be strong enough .
