Question about ultra Custom Riddle type cars..

I have a hard time relating to the concept of spending huge money on cars then hideing them in garages and never driving them. Do any of these cars that are Riddler quality ever see much road time after they make the show circuit??

Nothing says "I built this" better than tool marks and dykem blue..

I saw on the HAMB that the 2007 AMBR car did the Americarna cruse in New Zealand and some of it in the rain! I think that is the exception though. Most will only see the inside of a trailer. I would like to think Mike Warn will drive Ferrambo!

I googled "Most expensive paintings". Apparently David Geffen sold this...

...Jackson Pollock piece for $140 million. What were they thinking? Granted, the painting takes up a lot less space, but I would rather have the right Ridler car in my living room--even though they don't spin my wheels.

Neil Lea told me yesterday that they would start the shake down runs on the 56 he entered in this years show in a few weeks after a few other indoor shows.

"Impression" does make the show circuit. It was at SEMA last year. To me that is one the best executed coachbuilt cars that has been built. I could stare at it for days and not get bored.

i know Wes Rydell drives his Grandmaster...he might trailer it to shows but its got some miles on it and he isnt affraid for it to hit the streets (and its one of the best Riddler cars of all time). I think you be surprised how many shows these cars attend every year...they dont just sit in garages and collect dust. And I talked to Ken Reister and he said Impression does see the street occasionally..he had a few hundred miles on it and said he plans of driving it when he can. Both owners arent your typical millionaires who have a garage full of exotics that never get used...ive never seen anyone so open to show a million dollar car off with no ropes around it or body guards standing around it.

I did interiors of both cars and know the owner well,he will drive them. Most of the cars that go for Riddler are built for that award, you have to keep in mind that the money spent to build those type of cars is relative to what there incomes can afford,so most of the guys that own them also have cars that were built for driving.Kevin that owns both of those roadsters is bringing a Camaro to shop 1st of April to have me put an interior in it,and he plans to drive it all the time.Hard

Both of those where built to drive and look good, Roger Burman the builder of both the Yellow roadster and the 2 tone car(also Ridler winner) did a great job of building cars to drive. and perform while looking great

I can't find a picture of it right now but a few years ago someone built a car called the "Bonneville 996 Special" that was built with the intent to run a 10sec 1/4, 200mph @ Bonneville, AND compete with the likes of Impressions on the show circuit. 996 was the dyno-tested hp of the intercooled, twin turbocharged SBC under the hood of the 34 Ford roadster. Now THAT was a packaging masterpiece. It ran in the 9s at the strip, just over 200mph on the salt, and was a finalist for AMBR. At the Goodguys show in Des Moines a few years ago I walked right up to the Grand Master as it sat totally unguarded with the doors open and got close enough to see that the undersides of the seat and dash are as well finished as the top side. Yeah, there's an insane amount of money in these cars but at least some of them (the best of them in my view) do get driven.

This was a Great 8 in 2006. It has several thousand miles on it now. The first show it went to after Detroit was Goodguys Indy and it rained the whole week end. Put about 150 miles on it that week end in the pouring rain. We just got done spraying rock guard on the bottom so it's ready for some miles this summer.
