      Stuck Dist.

I am trying to remove my distributor from a 1971 lemans with a pontiac 350. I can only get my dist. out(up) about 1/4 inch. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Good deal.. Did you ever try to bump the engine over with the starter or rotate the crankshaft?
Any indication as to why it stuck? Worn gear?

That's some funny stuff!!! Sucks to have it happen to you, but funny to watch.

We did try to bump the engine over with no real change. We had to move the distributor up then back down in little increments. I couldn't find a reason for the problem, my best guess is that it hadn't been removed since 1971.

Pull dist up as far as possible. Put a chain around head of dist. and attach to engine hoist. pull tension on dist. spray around base with PB blaster or whatever nut buster you have. Then call it a night. when you get up in the A.M. dist will usually be popped up or just pull on it some more. We do this on Ford's all the time. I has always worked. Good Luck. Weldon
