      GoodGuys Street Challenge autocross

      http://www.ridetech.com/more/what-is-autocross/

Anyone who has not been to an autocross before, Now is your chance, We are getting ready to hit the road for 9 events this year!

An autocross is a form of motorsport competition that focuses on car control over outright speed and horsepower. The events are generally held in parking lots where pylons are arranged to form a tight, twisting course. Drivers negotiate the course one at a time, as quickly as possible. Each car is timed, and hitting cones will result in time penalties. The courses are constructed with safety in mind and are usually traversed at a comparatively low speeds. The best part is its free, just show up and play, oh and did i mention we give prizes for the fastest time! So get out of those lawn chairs and have some fun..... Warning attending an Autocross is highly addictive!

David, there is a tread wear limit of 180 to be eligible for prizes, but you can run anything for fun.

Schwartz has ran it a few times with the Ultima GTR. He killed everyone, but it was fun as hell to watch.

Yea, they has a lame cut-off of 180 treadwear. It's like having a drag race and not allowing even drag radials.. lol

I gave them a hard time about this, but it's Goodguys rules. I guess it does keep if fair for all.

My R888s were pissed though.. they wanted to dance. I got a set of fresh BFG KDWs to mount up for the festivities. I'm sure it will like I'm driving on ice compared to what I'm used to. lol But, if I have to run "street tires" then the KDWs are about as good as they come.

      Should be a fun event.

Oh, you might want to check. I think you can run on ANY tire but only qualifying tires will count for the contest. I think.. maybe..

Yes, that's a long tow for a minute's worth of driving. I'd give it a shot if it were closer...

The Lola used to be pretty quick at an autocross, but after that, I stiffened it up a lot for track use and it's pretty slow now in the tight autocross turns.

Steve, the KD's are pretty darn good!

well its only a minute's worth at a time, but if you make 20 or 30 runs, well now that could be worth it.

Keep in mind that you can run any tire that you want. But to be eligible for prizes you must stay within the 180 limit.

We are even gonna hold an Editor's Challenge for all of the magazine editors. We know that they can all talk the talk, we are gonna find out who can walk the walk! You are going to enter, right Steve?
