67 Camaro return spring relocation help

zz502 / TKO 600, with Hooker Super Comp headers. I am using factory Z bar and linkage. The only problem I ran into was the rear mounting location for the return spring. The mounting bracket for the factory return spring needs to be fastened to a factory exhaust manifold. Since I am using headers I cannot find a good location for the rear end of the spring to mount too. Does anybody have ideas or pics?

On a '69 the return spring on some models goes to the lower drivers motor mount. There is a hole drilled in it for the wire looking bracket that holds the spring. Some headers make it a real pain to mount the spring. I've seen them run thru the tubes and even a bracket mounted to the tube with a hose clamp.

I have seen them on the motor mounts and attached to the subframe near the crossmember. There is a slot in the frame just big enough to get the spring hook in it.

Maybe this will help. This is a picture of my 67 Firebird. The "L" bracket bolts to the frame near the steering box. You can't see it in the picture but the spring hooks to a link which hooks onto the clutch fork. This is the original setup on early Firebirds. Let me know if you want more pics. I can put the car on a lift and take some better shots
