Cut out the recessed fuel fill out of the race cars fender , reinstalled it on the Chevelle. Instead of using a dry break ordered a fuel cap from the Allstar catalog....bolted right up to the recessed flange no problem.....gotta love stock cars. If I ever decide I want a dry break I'll unbolt the the gas cap and bolt one on.

Thanks guys, it has a long way to go but it's come a long way too....

The delema Im facing now is whether to run the fuel/brake lines through the interior (more protection) or attach to the frame underneath the car (less cluttered inside the car and more street friendly) All the race guys say absolutely through the interior from a protection standpoint but hundreds of cars are tracked and have no problems with the lines running under the car....I'm thinking of running them through some sort of conduit under the car for protection.

Are you sure that the fuel cell is secure? Maybe a couple more 2"x2" thick wall tubes are needed?

      GREAT progress on the Chevelle!!

Yeah, we are from the same era in time... I loved my Jensen Triaxials with my awesome Craig "Powerplay" stereo with its whopping 40 watts of power!!! (circa 1976... )

Just in case some of you are too young to have experienced some of these electronic marvels in person... Here are a few hints of the awesome technology we had when some of us were in high school!

Here's an ad for the EXACT underdash top of the line 8-track system I had in my 1974 F-100 pickup!!

Had my share of Jensen's. I built speaker boxes under the package shelf for the ones in my 68 Camaro when I switched from an 8 track player to cassette LOL A good friend had one of the Craig powerplay's that mounted to the trans hump in his 70 Torino. Oh ya, mid 70's high tech! I think the speaker sticker idea sounds fun.

You had speaker boxes.....well, you were pimpin'!

I'll never forget, we were in high school, my 68 Chevelle was temporarily out of commision, we were at this house party and we needed a ride to another house party, we decided we would go with this one guy who we thought was a bit of a goof "but he has Jensen Triaxials!" so we went with him.....they were that cool lol

Simply awesome, I've been reading all day long at the office... productivity level --> 0; fun level --> infinite.

Hope to see more updates from this project, it's just the same thing I've been dreaming for long time to do with my 73 Nova, the difference is that we can't get a Nascar vehicle in my country, so it's a big work coming ahead.

      Congrats!!!

More trunk with fuel line and filter, still need the check valve for the vent hose, you know, to put the "catch can" in.

Decided to run the fuel line under the car in steel elect conduit instead of inside the car as it was originally. It ran right where the pass seat is. It still gives some serious protection in case of off roading into gravel trap or something. The insulated part will be above the side exit "tailpipes" (Nas speak)

Dash - Was going to put the tach and speedo together in the "stock" position but had difficulty reading them through the steering wheel just sitting in the shop let alone at 100 mph. So I put it up on the dash pad old school stock car, Much better! love it. Reused the "Malibu" trim piece above where the glove box would be so it looks "stock" lol. I cant reach the dash to flick switches so a trans tunnel mounted switch box will have to be made.
