My 1970 Chevelle

My Name is Ryan I'm a Purdue Student Studying Aerospace Engineering and I love anything automotive. I own 1970 Chevelle(bought it when I turned 16) and just got a beater 1988 Toyota 4runner plan to make it a trail truck thats another story.

Just started tear down of my Chevelle. I plan to do a frame off job take car of all the cancer and prevent it from returning as much as possible as I plan to never sell it. Also I want it to be my daily driver after its done. I am still in college so I know its going to take me awhile but thats half the fun RIGHT??

I want it to be fun to drive yet pratical i.e. decent gas mileage yet be able to keep upgrading and adding performance.

So Here is what I have In mind seen it done a lot as I have been reasearching so I think its best since I've never done this stuff before.

Powertrain
Engine: LS1
Trans: T-56
Rear-End: 12bolt?

Suspension/Brakes
Still researching probably lower it adj. shocks?
Tubed control arms poly bushings still deciding on this stuff.
Four-Wheel Discs

Interior
Black? White? Something else
I want put in newer bucket seats
Autometer Gauges
Fab up a dash and console
Mild Stero New Head unit with I-pod cable Nothing crazy

Exterior
Silver with Black stripes? Or Black with Silver or just black decisions decisions

Wheels/Tires
I like the black or gunmetal centers polished lip 16"s or 17"s
Mini Tub the rear I like seeing the wide tires from behind

I know this is a lot and not too clear but I have a picture in my head. Hope to have fun along that way and learn all I can!

That sounds awesome. I'm in grad school myself right now, so I know what you mean about the long road ahead, but keep that picture in your mind. It'll keep you going and working on the car when things get downright stupid. Trust me on this one hahaha.

And then again, I have amassed a thousand pictures of other guys cars highlighting different areas that I like or want to incorporate into my own car further down the road. Then there's tons of wheel shots, steering wheels, trick little additions, and......ya know.
They all end up getting test fitted on that car in my mind.

This site and others are a huge source of info for myself to see what's out there and what's possible. My best friend is right click, save as. Then I just dream away.

Anyways, it sounded like you were in the same boat as me, so I thought I'd share. Welcome and enjoy because trying out the look of a new part is always easier in your head.

Sounds like a cool project. My kind of car lol.

Just remember when doing a frame off to take a lot of pics, tag and bag everything, get an assembly manual and be very patient. (At least that's what I should've done.)

OK I've dismantled most of the car and stripped some of the paint to see if anything I didn't know about. Nothing yet a little rust around the window and that's about it. I already knew the qtr was mangled by PO. Also pulled the motor and transmission and looking for body parts and an ls1 with T-56.
