first gen camaro disk brake conversion

I'm sure it has been discussed on here about 1000 times but, I was looking for someone who had already done this to ease my pain and provide some suggestions.

I have a 67 camaro I am updating with front disk setup from a 69 Grand Prix. Now the questions begin. Looks like the only cross over part number is the rotors.

I am planning on ordering stainless brake lines from Inline or someone. Since I will be using the master cylinder from the Grand Prix will the brake line/valving combo work with the lines for a 67 camaro? The next qustion is there seems to be a differnce in rubber hose too. Since I am planning on using the GP calipers, I assume I will use the GP rubber lines. Will these work with the camaro mounting and hardliine (provide enough movement and connect together)? Look for a person that has been there done that!

I hope these are my biggest challenges and someone on here already has done it and can provide some insight.

If it's all the same parts as the Chevelles in 69 everything will work but you will not want to use the brake lines or prop valve. Get brake lines from a 69 Camaro with disc brakes. Get prop valve from the 69 Camaro or 68-76 nova. The spindles, calipers, caliper brackets, rotors, backing plates and master will work, so will the booster.

You will have to use your steering arms, since your car is rear steer and the donor is front steer.

All my front disc brakes came from a 69 Chevelle. I have a 67 Camaro.

Thanks for your help, Cruiser. I'm helping Mike (noscamaro) with this swap. I'm more of an A-body guy but have previously used an A-body setup on a '69 F-body subframe ('48 streetrod).

The Right Stuff Detailing shows the same part number for the metering valve (prop. valve) on '67 - '69 F-bodies and '69 chevelles (the '69 Grand Prix is an A-body), so I think were good. It looks as if the distribution block that hangs under the master cylinder was the same on the F-body from '67 -69, so again I think we're good.

So, it looks like all we need to do is order a front line set for a '69 and rest is text book. I'm guessing we should also use '69 front brake hoses since the '67 & 68 cars had the 4-piston calipers, which might be different.

I didn't know the boosters were interchangeable, but if so that's good news - it's always nice to have spare parts. This car is an original power drum/drum car so I figured we would just stick with the stock booster and bolt up a reman. disk/drum MC.

Who did you order your lines from and how did you like the fit? I used Classic Tube on my '68 442 and was VERY pleased with the fit. I used lines from The Right Stuff Detailing on a '69 Malibu conv. that I did a power disk conversion on, and had no problems (minor hand tweak).

I just ordered everything line all brand new for the entire car, fuel and brake with clips and screws also including the prop valve, and bracket. This also included a stainless braided rear brake hose (I already has braided fronts) from inline tube. Everything shipped was about $430.00

Anything you have from the A-body can be used as core to purchase new/rebuilt parts for your conversion. Just order parts for a 69 Camaro and yes order pbrake hoses for a 69. Inline tube sells all 3 braided brake hoses for $90.00. The line set i bought is a conversion line set. It converts from drum to disc and uses the late model prop valve assembly. I don;t know about others but I personally have had problems with the 69 Camaro/Chevelle style. The small round type.

I have bought from inline for years for projects and always recieved excellent parts and service. I ordered the orginal style lines this time. I had stainless before and like the patina of the older lines....just me

Hey. I am working on my dad's 67' ss camero and i trying to do a front disc brake conversion. He salvaged a bunch of front brake parts from a 69 chevy nova so that i can do the conversion. Before i get into it, i was just wondering if the conversion is going to work out.
