      2003-04 5.3 Motor

      When did GM change the drive by wire to fly by wire? I found a 5.3 out of a 2003 or 2004...

      It was somewhere around then. Problem was it wasn't a year change. You could have an 02 with either and I don't know of any way other than looking to know.

      It ultimately doesn't matter for a swap. You can add DBW or delete it on any Gen 3. You may need to get a specific gas pedal but parts are everywhere.

      yea dude they started in 03 on the 5.0 motor and denalis and escalades had it in 02 on the 6.0s
