And some updates:

Getting really close to having the car started now...

Most of the engine wiring is done, brake lines, tranny lines, fuel lines are installed. The exhaust, driveshaft and gas tank is in and a ton of other small items. It is amazing that 4 months have passed, and it seems like not a lot has changed, but the guts of the car are almost completely in place and it should fire up in February.

I used 3m Body Schutz undercoating. It sprays really nicely, adheres well and has an awesome texture. I probably used a total of 4 bottles to do the car.



It screws directly into an applicator gun that can be reused. It cleans up really nice and is an all around excellent product in my opinion. I think that if you get the white version it is even tintable with paint if you are interested in body matching.

The gun looks like the image below - i picked one like it up for about $25:

They actually came with my engine, but I believe that they are made by proform.

They look really awesome - the black is eggshell and has a very small amount of texture. I really like them.

I really like the look of the Body Shultz, what prep work would be required for new sheetmetal? Would I have to just scuff it up or is a primer required? Also do you need a real big compressor to spray it? Can you spray it on your back, if you don't have a rotissiere?

The engine should be roaring to life in the next couple of weeks... I am just getting the details done and will then be starting it. The fuel in is upsized from the original - 3/8 instead of 5/16 inlet and regular sized return - both stainless.

Sorry...

You don't need a huge compressor. I scuffed the sheetmetal and then cleaned it with wax and grease remover. Once that was done I sprayed it. The tube from the gun goes almost to the bottom, so you can spray "almost" horizontally. I would spray the hard to reach places first and then everything else after. Everything I did was done on the lift. I think most of by spraying was done around 45 degrees or so.
