nothing is wrong with wanting your car to look good underneath until you make it not drivable any more because you don't want it to get dirty. it kinda hurts my pride when i go to a show and see some car of my dream that's never driven that some deep pocket wanting to be cool guy has just to put in a show. i mean, having it clean underneath is one thing but having it pretty, is kinda wrong. it's a car first, anything else, second, and from what i read about this forum before i joined, this is supposed to be a place for cool, customized, and DRIVABLE cars. with that said, por-15 is my choice of frame coating and i know it's newer so the older crowd is usually against it, but that stuff hardens like a rock and doesn't chip and is probably the best protection against rust i've seen. then you can go ahead and use the rubberized under coating after that if you want or just leave it alone.
i also still don't understand why people haven't looked at the spray on truck bed liner for a frame coating. it comes in some cool finishes and again, it hardens like a rock. that to me would be better than anything that was just powdercoated. maybe it's just me, but i'm not into redoing the same car over and over. there is more than one car of my dreams.
no, i'm not a star wars nerd.

My son and I are working now on a 1967 C20 and it has been given the full airbag treatment with notch, 14 bolt rear end with a custom made watts link.

No, it's not exactly pro touring but to answer your powdercoating question. I wanted something a little different. We selected silver-vein. It has an industrial look and does require a clear-coat. See link for photos.

I'm with you there, I am not into having to clean the underside of my car nor am I worried about it getting dirty by driving it. That picture you posted is ridiculous and that is not the kind of stuff people are building on this site. I think most guys here just want something durable that is going to look good and take the abuse of street or track use.
With that said, here are some pics of my car after 15k of street miles. Still looks nice, but I'm not going to have mirrors showing off the undercarriage at shows (and I do put the car in a show or 2 a year).
