      Carbon Fiber?

Just found out that the guy I just partnered up with in a new venture used to do carbon fiber work for Barris, Movie industry, etc.

I know it's a luxury problem but now it just throws another option my way in my build.

What to do, what to do?!??!!!!

Rear wing. Front air dam. Interior panels. Inner fender wells.

With your car, (he says wickedly) the sky's the limit!

Well, I would do it for weight savings (and cool factor too), but don't over do it on the looks, because IMO that will "date" the car several years from now.
If you can do it cheap enough, do the floors and everything!

Just wondering, does anyone make Carbon Fiber hoods for First Gen Firebirds?

Not only should you do it but you should "request" rights to a percentage of all sales of parts from molds made using your car. $$$

Then you should call Tyler from ATS and hook him up.

Ehh, they're fiberglass core. I personally wouldn't spend the extra cash unless it was actually optimized for carbon. Theirs won't be any lighter than a typical fiberglass hood. but, if you're after the look...

That's a good idea if you can do it with your car John. How much do you think you could reasonably make using your car as the mold that would then work for other non heavily modified Chevy II people? At the very least, I think front and rear spoilers. Also a rear belly pan would look mean I think.

Cool, but are they changing the molds to make them lighter? How will the stiffness compare?

I don't know about that. Requesting a royalty, is fine in a business sense, but it just makes the parts more expensive to people who need them.

I make 'glass pieces when I have time and made a fairly unique part for my RS. I'm quite happy to help out a person or business to get them making more, or just get their car on the road. I've just finished making a part to send off to be reproduced, likely in c/f, and ya'll will see it here one day soon.

If I get enough to cover materials, shipping, a few hour of my time and a six pack, I'm happy. What makes it worth while to me is seeing a car in a calendar, on a track, or at a show and knowing that there's a piece of my car, in theirs.

If you've built something cool, or unique I'd encourage people to help each other out, just like we do with information on this board.
      Cheers.

I'll take a CF hood for my 2nd Gen please! Doesn't have to be 100% perfect since I'd paint the top side anyhoo....

Eventually I'll find someone to craft me such a hood...
