      New Member needs help!

      Hello,
Well its time to upgrade my '72 Monte Carlo, I have read a lot of previous postings but have some questions. I guess I will start with what I want from my up grades, I want a lowered stance 2 inches in front and 1 in the rear, a firm but comfortable ride, I will not be road racing but also want to hold my own when carving the canyons.

Currently the suspension is stock except for the Fat man 2inch drop spindles, I have read that they are not good for the A body. And the rear springs are just shot so I currently have the look I want but no performance.

      Questions:
If I keep the Fat man spindles, do I get UCA’s made for tall spindles to elevate upper ball joint pressure?

I have read a lot about the AFX spindles but I’m not clear, is it necessary to up grade to C5 breaks? If so I will not be able to run my 15 inch wheels (plan to go to 17’s but budget is limited now)

I also want to run QA1 front coil overs for the adjustability. If I went to the AFX spindles will they work?

Welcome to the site. A nice set of shocks, springs and sway bars should do the trick.

Currently the suspension is stock except for the Fat man 2inch drop spindles, I have read that they are not good for the A body. And the rear springs are just shot so I currently have the look I want but no performance. Since you already have them, use them. For your application it should be fine. Add a set of adjustable shocks and Eibach or Hotchkis springs should follow.

      Questions:
If I keep the Fat man spindles, do I get UCA’s made for tall spindles to elevate upper ball joint pressure? You will have to ask the man for that info. I have no experience with that.

I have read a lot about the AFX spindles but I’m not clear, is it necessary to up grade to C5 brakes? If so I will not be able to run my 15 inch wheels (plan to go to 17’s but budget is limited now)
Yes, 17+ are a requirement. ATS spindles, steering arms ,C5 brakes plus rims can add up. If you can swing it, its a better mod. But not necassary for your usage.

I also want to run QA1 front coil overs for the adjustability. If I went to the AFX spindles will they work? Yes, they will be fine since it is based off of a stock spindle mount.

      Thanks Vince,
The more research I do it looks like the best think I can do is go back to stock spindles and use SC&C street comp2+ package and the Qa1 coil overs. Looks like this will give me what I want and gives me the most adjustability.

I did notice that w/ this package it says that some 15'' wheels will work I am running stock Chevy rally’s 15x8 w/ 4'' back spacing.

      Will this work?

I was going to suggest going back to stock but I didn't want to offend you. Being new and all.

Best one to field that question would be Marcus at SC&C. Shoot him a pm, he will be more than happy to help you out.
