Took my non-full floater brakes, and adapted them to the full floater housing,e-brake and all. Had to cut the center out of the hat, drill it for the floater hub, used the center 5 mounting holes, and the 8 outer holes on the rotor adapter supplied by Moser. Had to make a steel bracket with the big Ford bolt pattern to weld to the housing, which gave the backing plate something to attach to, turned out pretty good.

That would be over 35000 lbF Shear to brake those if they are grade 8.

Those five RA bolts would not be any problem at all. The outer tapped aluminum BAER "hat" would be the weaker of the two IMO.....but even these I doubt would ever be any problem, and if they were they could be enlarged to the next bolt size providing even more strength.

Ron, just a suggestion but from experience I have seen snouts move slightly from originally installed "straight" or "cambered" position from putting this much heat so close to the tube/snout end, if one snout moves slightly one way.....and the other side moves the other, it could definately be enough to cause premature wear on drive plate/axle spline/diff spline. May want to double check "through alignment" if snouts were originally installed straight to verify perfect alignment? Good luck!

Rechecked the the housing straightness with my rear narrowing jig, which was OK, the axles slid right in. The tig welding helps because you can keep the heat down. The 5 bolts kind of suprised me too, its really no different then the 5 lugs that hold any rotor on, it is the standard of the stock car industry. It is all shear load, no lateral forces at all, I will keep a close eye on them though.

Cool Ron, easier to check now and adjust if needed, than after paint/powder coat. I was not sure if you would see a difference or not, typically its just a caliper bracket that only gets a weld around 1/2 the tube which seems to pull slightly but since this was a 360 weld I imagine it does act equally as you have proved.

The rear center section I got has a cooler pump built into it, so I put a deck mounted cooler on the floor that I will plumb the cars side vents into. I also got the ridetech shocks on, which I think will be a big improvement over what I had.

The rear setup looks great Ron. Whose center section has the built-in cooler pump setup? That is a neat!

The center came from a Nascar team, $400 for a big bearing, N case, Detroit Locker, lightened gears, billet 1350 yoke, all ARP hardware with a pump. Couldn't pass it up, I think I'm going to hate the locker though. And I think the 3.18 gears are going to kick the crap out of my drag racing times, should make the cruising alot better with no overdrive though. I'm hoping the gear swap will put my gearing where I want it for autox.

you could have a few center sections with different gear ratios at those prices.....I seriously thought of doing that but I didnt want a locker....in the end I bought a true trac and will eventually get some sort of an overdrive trans

No trans cooler for now, I probably wouldn't be running the rear cooler, except for the fact that it came with the center section.

Took the car out for its first run with the new rear, I already don't like the Detroit!!!, sounds like all the loose change fell out of my pocket into the differential everytime I make a turn, and I see no way that that won't upset the car in turns. The car has always been so tight, I think these last changes have loosened it up a bit, and are going to have me spinning out on every turn until I get used to it. Should be like a differnt car, I can't wait.

I have a soft locker detroit locker. And it doesn't upset the car when I get on the throttle. Its noisy but works great!

Windows go in tomorrow I'll have you know.LOL

I've driven cars with Detroits in them before, I remember the ratcheting, I just don't remember them sounding like they're broke. Those cars had interior, mine is the inside of a beer can, that must be the difference. Took it out again tonight, that is one sideways sliding machine. Will try to drill and change out the front studs to the 5/8" units later tonight.
