look at the picture of the car doing a burnout in the "street". when was the last time you saw a two story high grand stand in front of any "street".

O well, at least its not a "black eye" on this side of the world. I couldn't imagine if the Woodward Dream Cruise had something like that happen there especially with it being a family event.

Then again those Australlian car gatherings might have a Fosters booth on every corner but whos to say since I sure haven't been to one!

I think Mr Q was saying that it was BS for the mob to do something like that. Re-read his post using that context and it will all be clear.

Yep, I guess it does read that way now that you mention it...LOL. I guess the first statment set the tone for the way I read it.
Having known someone attacked by these kinds of punks kind of set me on edge when I hear about it.

"Summernats is Australia's biggest and best-known car festival and draws more than 110,000 fans who each January queue to see the latest chromed and airbrushed street machines. "

Oh please.................I get the impression the writer isn't a car person!

I live in Australia, didn't go this year but have been. Yep it is our biggest street machine event and yep it gets over 100,000 people to it.

In the past it has had some bad years, lots of drunken behaviour (burnouts, reckless stuff etc) and really did start to become an event you wouldn't take your family to.

But it has got better in the past few years. I did hear this year there was a bit of roudy behaviour but Police said it was one of the best years.

My view is there will always be an element that go to have fun, but get out of hand....but the good old media only focus on the negative. This event ploughs over $10M into the Canberra (location where it is held) economy and it is one of the key events for big name car builders to release their latest creations...it has lots of positives, but the minority get all the press !!

      yeah sorry about that.

I hate that kinda stuff. I watched a show where this mob in NYC started pulling women down and groping them....and nobody did a damn thing. Even the cops where telling the victims to fill out a report and they will investigate it. No justice in the world anymore. Sorry for my punisher soap box rant. Just adjusting my windage.

Definatly the biggest event of the year for us down here. I have been to five summernats and stopped going due to the stupid behaviour of drunken idiots. each year it has got worse and worse. This year was the worst it has been from storries I have read and heard. Alchol needs to be banned and the big name cars need to boycott the event until some action is taken. Yes women get harassed there, yes there is alot of alcohol, and most of the people comitting offence probably dont own a car worth taking there. Something needs to be done about this. Espicially the physical abuse some people got from the securtiy guards and the espicially the fighting between security gaurds.

Personnally I wil never attend another Summernats, cant risk getting the damaged but drunk wankers.

I've been to that show, and it is AWESOME!!! There's even a PHR edition back from '98 that has a story that I wrote about the show. Rock bands, fireworks, topless ladies, alcohol, rock bands, burnout competition, bewbs. Street machine nationals back in the day but with the amp turned to 11. The year I was there, there was a scuffel between the police and one of the bike gangs. It just seemed part of the show environment. The story can be swayed pretty easily, because the major cruising street through the fairgrounds is considered a public street - hence police doing breath checks on it. I easily saw 400 blokes chanting "show us your ti*$" everytime a girl drove by in a car. Thankfully most obliged!

      It is an AWESOME show!

Impact weapons work better. No chance for lawsuit or hitting someone you didnt mean to. Transfered intent is a bitch. Do not try to shot at anyone even if they are violating the law. It will only make it worse.

haha guys im only kidding, well kind of i have a problem with women being violated "my mothers ex husband beat her on a daily basis, and my current girlfriend of 2 years was hit and slapped around on the regular by her ex also, it just gets me". and yes the law is different nowadays. if you shoot the tire out on your own car while its being stolen to prevent it from being driven off....you get in trouble for shooting your own tire out since your shooting at a occupied vehicle, even if someone was stealing the 20s off my truck right now i couldnt shoot them or at them by law. crazyness.
