      Lower Control arm options

Ok guys, I have a question for ya. I'm in the process of doing my AFX C5 package on the front of my Grand National. My question is what to do with the lower control arms? here is my options:

Stock LCAs, spray painted, replacement rubber bushings, Moog ball joints total cost: $120

Stock LCAs, powder coated, replacement rubber bushings, Moog ball Joints total cost: $220

Stock LCAs, Moog Performance Bushings K6421, moog ball joints, Spray Painted total cost: $220

Stock LCAs, Moog ball joints, Moog performance bushings K6421, Powder Coated total cost: $320

Aftermarket tubular LCAs, Moog ball joints, Poly bushings (greasable), already powder coated ready to go: $390 plus shipping

What path would you guys take? The stock LCAs are ok but I think they flex a little. I could spend the time boxing them but I dont want to. Thanks for the help guys!! ----Jeremy

I went with powdercoated, unboxed, stock LCA, Del-a-Lum bushings, howe ball joints.

I have conventional springs, AFX spindle, C5 brakes. Problem now is the stock steering stop doesn't hit the spindle anymore so I have to grind off powdercoat and weld on a new steering stop.

Are you doing coilover or conventional spring? If you are doing coilovers, then you should get reinforce them or get aftermarket LCA's. The shock mounts weren't designed to hold the weight of the whole front end. Spohn makes nice control arms, and they have delrin bushings, which would be better than poly.

I haven't seen many aftermarket lower control arms with steering stops and with the AFX spindle being a different shape, all bets are off. Welding steering stops onto stock arms hurts alot less than grinding and welding on brand new $400 arms.

Very true! I'm running Moog 5658 springs on my car. Have you ever heard of ADDCO control arms? They sell a set of tubulars for $192. Not too bad. I'm not sure of the quality though? What kind of car do you have these parts on? Is you Howes BJ a stock height or a taller one?
