4L60 vs 4L85e...size??
Are the external dimensions the same for a 4L60 and a 4L85??
The reason I'm asking is that I know the 4L60 will fit the Barracuda with little/no tunnel mods....not sure about the 4L85...

The 80E fit into my Malibu with little difficulty after I did a couple things:

The 80E has the same external dimensions as the 85E.
But think about this - the motor doesn't change size, so the bellhousing area has to be the same overall size. The body of the tranny is a bit larger farther back, but the most 'surgery' I had to do was hammering the floor a bit to get clearance for the large wiring plug on the driver's side of the tranny, and it's wiring harness. Other than that, it was an easy swap.
Oh, and I love the tranny! Hughes-built for 900HP.
