New Military Transports

My buddy works at the International engine facility and sent me this article... he did the engine calibraion on these to get max power. He pointed out that the military doesn't have to meet emissions standards, so he was able to load a hot cal into them. The troops seem to like 'em, they're bigger and faster than Humvees.

I watch an episode of future weapons that featured those. Badaas. They are surprisingly fast for something so heavy. V shaped floor pan for anti IED protection. Cool

Our new riggs are Cougar JERRV's. They are pretty good vehicles but the two we have that we are putting through durability tests keep breaking u-bolt on the diff. Minor issue but I think we will be ordering alot of them.
BTW, anything would be better than a HMMWV. I'm a military mechanic and believe they were the worst DOD contract ever. They have less capability than a Chevy 6 passenger truck.

No offense to your Dad, but the MRAP is a LONG day late & a dollar+ short. As soon as the insurgents started using certain IED tactics, they should have done what they can to get them there- as NO Hummer can stop an EFP or deep-burried IED. That's what they do now- either get the molten copper to cut through the vehicle (it will go through an MRAP as well), or just using 1Klb of explosives to pick up your vehicle and throw it 100ft.

Sorry to sound so pissy, but our own Govt could have done more to get the MRAP there quicker (I'll qualify my pissyness by telling you that I've been IED'd, and lost several close friends last summer due to EFPs/IEDs).

Rant over- PLEASE tell you Dad thanks for making such a great powerplant.
