      Rotor surface rust

I have surface rust on my rotors as they have been sitting on the work bench. What is the best way to remove with out damaging surface? They are an aftermarket kit from cpp and are drilled and slotted. Just use a sctchbrite bad and then clean with brake cleaner?

Put them on the car and stop once.

I agree, sanding them with cleaner only pushes contaminants into the rotor surface.

To keep the rest of the rotor clean I like to paint with 1200 degree engine enamel then fine cut them on a lathe OR you can mask the friction surface before painting.
