I have the Hurst shifter & love it. Have tried both the leather ball knob & the GM factory Hurst leather knob. I like the leather ball best.

This is the Hurst knob, didn't care for it.

I also have a Hurst and I'll be going to the T-handle because I'm old school like that. The 'stock' Hurst ball is cool (I especially like it when people notice the 6-speed H-pattern on it) but I really want the T-handle with the button for my N2O system.

Hurst also makes different shifter handle lengths and shaped which can all be swapped once the shifter itself is installed. I like this feature and may be exploring some options in the future.

Regarding the fit and feel of the Hurst shifter, it's awesome. Short throws and positive engagement. Simple installation and adjustment. It's everything I wanted (and expected) from a Hurst shifter.

I love my B&M Ripper shifter, although it doesn't have a bolt-on shift lever (it's part of the shifter). This is also a good thing since it can't come loose or move when banging gears.

I've also heard good things about Pro 5.0 and liked the one I had on my TKO. I have no personal experience with their T56 shifter.

I've been debating shifters for my T56 also - seems there never is a consensus whenever a "poll" is taken - but what about the "anti-venom" mod folks used to do when they complained about their shifter - is this still being done and does it favor one shifter over another? Don't mean to hijack - just add to this discussion.

Apparently, some have complained about the "notchiness" of the T56 shift - "It is a new bolt to replace the original one that has a spring and ball type plug that is at the top of the tranny. This is the part that makes the notchy feeling in the trans" - some say it works great others don't. Originally (http://www.z06vette.com/forums/f5/an...ift-mod-84344/) the replacement bolt cost $60 but someone figured out all you had to do was use a spark plug washer to space out the bolt (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1361649) and effectively reduce the spring pressure. A lot of talk about the effects of different trans fluid also. But to the topic at hand - for some the impact of this mod and an after-market shifter makes a big difference and for others none. I haven't heard anyone doing this for about a year now - perhaps it doesn't really do anything and has just run its course. Guess you just have to try your shifter of choice and if it doen't feel right try the anti-venom mod. I don't know where the term comes from.

"Notchiness" is a new term for me.

If they're referring to the crisp feeling when the shifter is moved into place in any given gear, I'd never complain about that. As a guy who grew up with Muncies, such positive gear engagement is a gift.

I really like the way my T56 shifts. I don't know who should get the credit for that (it's a Rockland Standard box, with the Hurst shifter) but it works the way a manual transmission should, IMO.

Yeah I don't know - kinda sounds like it. I have a '05 GTO T56 but don't have it in my Nova yet so I don't know what it will feel like. -Bob

I have the Pro 5.0, I am not sure how tall the hurst shifter is but the 5.0 is pretty tall. It does feel very nice though and like the hurst it has spring loaded shifts from first to second, and second to third.
