      Horrific Accident

I dont know if any of you heard about this crash, but I thought I would share it with all of you since the victim was a fellow car guy like us. There was a bank robber who was being chased by police monday (12/3) here in AZ and decided to not only take his life, but an innocent persons as well. The victims name is Alex Amahd. He was 24 and a fellow car guy, owning the white Supra shown in the video of the horrific crash below. Although I did not know him, it struck a chord with me and just wanted to say rest in peace.

Video Link:http://www.abc15.com/mediacenter/loc...xv.dayport.com (Note: This video is actual news footage taken by news copter of the actual wreck and death of both drivers. Click at your own risk. It's the kind of thing you wish you could un-see. -Mod)

Thats why Police cannot pursuit here. I dont have a problem with that rule. But when stuff like this happens it sickens me. May God rest his soul.

Dammit. I couldn't tell what kinda car it was when I saw the video the other day, but knew it looked sporty. Why couldn't that jackass just drive into a bridge abutment or a pole? Why into someone else? I sure hope the robbers death was slower and more painful than Alex's there.

      /still fuming at robber/douchebag.

The very slow way in which he drifts into the oncoming lane makes me think he was trying to look back over his left shoulder at the pursuing vehicles and just pulled the steering wheel "along for the ride" unintentionally. If he really was "aiming" for this guy I would have expected a sudden last-minute veer/swerve... but who knows for sure. The only person that knew the real reason isn't around anymore.

Either way, it sucks that someone innocent had to die too.

EDIT: Upon seeing the new video from behind the guy running, I think it's pretty obvious that he did it intentionally. May there be a special place in hell for him.

That really p*sses me off!!! Prayers for his family & friends. Sidewinders mounted on the copter could have stopped this before anybody of importance was hurt.

Heres a link if any of the local guys would like to pay thier repects or donate any money to Alex's Family. There will be a meet at ASU and then everyone is going to the crash site to pay respects. Details at the linked site.

I don't think that was unintentional. I don't think he was looking over his shoulder either. I think he(bank robber) was aiming for him simply because he was the next car coming down the road. I hope the pissant burns in hell and peace to Alex and his family.

This robber and the kid who just shot up Omaha are pathetic. If you want to kill yourself, go do it but don't take anyone else out with you.

Ok as for sidewinders ,well that a little over kill but 50 cal or Hellfires (much smaller and a lot more "fun inthe damage way as they frag differently, even a near miss would shread a car.
AS for pursuits I really think that it should be dependant on the area, if its in town lots of pedestrians stuff like that no, but out in some of the western states hthey can trail a guy for litterally hundreds of miles, that would be a good place to just blow the crap outa them IF they know the guy is alone(ie no hostages).
As for the mall shooter, guess the idea that anyone not a criminal should be protected by "police" but sorry I have a cousin who lives out west and they were in a smaller mall in houston visiting my aunt and a fella came in to the mall and pulled a gun, well after 17 or 18 people drew down on the guy , his gun kinda drooped and 4 Dallas Cowboys players drop the guy like a quarterback in the Superbowl.
It made 2 papers on like the umptenth page and one small note on a local new program.
Honest opinion is if several licensed and armed citezens were there and responded appropriately the guy would still be dead but a few less innocent bystanders would be alive.
And yes I am a proud holder of a lifetime handgun permit.
and as you can guess it take 3 month as they scoure the records for your TRUE legal history.
Had a buddy who got his but had to clear up the issue of when a guy broke into his granparents ghouse while he was visiting, he was9 and found out what a double barrel with double ought buck, both barrels at one time did the the burglar who was beating his grandfather. They were supposed to be out of town but had to postpone vacation by a day due to car issues.
My buddy is now a town peace officer in a small town and had to get his permitto carry.
Strange that the case was never closed on a 9yr old shooting a burglar (friend is now like 29 or 30).
But prayers for the victims and families.

What I don't understand is that NO cops went over to the Supra after it was hit. F*** the A****** in the grey car, let him die a slow death and take care of the victim in the Supra. Almost 2:30 minutes go by and I didn't see one cop go up to that car. For his sake I hope it was instant. My heart goes out to his family.

I'm not on here a whole ton, but I had to say something in this thread.

Alex was my roommate. This whole thing has just been a huge shock to all of us that knew him. Not only was he a true car guy, he was just an all around great person. He was the type of person that was always carefree and ready to have a good time no matter what. As you can see by the picture he absolutely loved his car. Like most people that are in their 20's his car wasn't the greatest in the world, but it was his. We used to talk about all the stuff that he wanted to do to it down the road. Unfortunately, none of that stuff will ever be able to happen.

I'd like to thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers--I know that they mean a lot to his friends and family right now. Also, I'd like to ask anyone that can to come out to the cruise a week from Sunday. All are welcome whether or not they make a donation. The type of car you drive is completely unimportant; the only thing that matters is that we are all a part of the larger car enthusiast community.
