      Project X

Reading new PHR last night and had lots of info on the GM Project X project with ZL1 427.

Did it debut in SEMA ? Any pictures

Article made it sound like it was more pro-street build than pro-touring but pictures of the sketches said otherwise.

I personally like that they've chosen to have the car evolve over time. GM gets to use the car for one year so I'm looking forward to seeing it at an event around here for 2008. There really weren't any good pics of it provided from SEMA that I saw.

Was it at the Sands in the AAPEX show? I didn't get a chance to get there and I don't remember ever seeing it or it just didn't pop out and say " look at me "

IMO It is nasty and the best ever rendition, short of Hollywood Knights. Need more pics of that exhaust dump. Steve, any more, promise to still but the mag each month

I thought it was the best version yet. Thought the X's in the rear trim was cool.

It looks too tall to me. That, or the profile of the rear tires is too high. It's the nicest thing they've done to it yet. Thank god they fixed the rear quarters. Radiused wheel openings just look wrong on 57s.

According to the build article, the car was originally bought by Argus Publishing (former publishers of PHR Mag) and it got passed onto the new publishers as the magazine was bought out over the years. The current publisher is Source Interlink Media. So they should be owners of Project X also.

Hmmm....I'm with TonyL on this, the rear tires have too much profile on the rubber and the fronts look like bottle caps, too small. I can understand why they did it though, they were probably trying to keep the car close to it's roots while not dipping their toes too far into the Pro-Touring segment. But if you're going to bring the car into the 21st Century with the body, engine and especially the suspension enhancements...I mean, you're almost there you might as well go all the way. I doubt too many people would piss and moan. Other than that it's a phenomenal build. I passed Dave Ross in the hallway today too, I should have stopped him to talk about it.

I like how they blended in (and "raked" forward) the three little ports above the side spear trim on the front fenders. I hadn't noticed that when I was looking at the car in person...nice detail.

Yea, the goal was "a modern interpretation of pro-street".. no pro-touring.. although the finished product is a mix of both.
