      454 lsx?

      I want to build one of Gm's new lsx blocks. I want a wide torque curve on it for my t-56. I have been looking into Reggie Jackson's 454, but am having trouble coming up with the specs. can anyone help me out?

      If it was me, I'd keep it a 427 or bore it to the max. With the 4.125 bore 4.25 stroke for the 454, the piston comes way out the bottom of the bore (even with 4" stroke), unless you use the tall deck LSx, which opens a bunch more cans of worms.
      The LSX standard deck block has one of the shortest cylinder lengths.
      Not good for stroking. Which is why they have the tall deck block.
      On the 4.25 stroke I did on the Cutlass project, I used a LS7 block because the cylinder liners are longer and support the piston more at bdc.

      I built one, LSX block, 4.125 stroke, 4.185 bore, 6.125 rod
      Thall shall fear no amount of boost, For thy bottle is with me.......

      You could go with a 4.20" bore and 4.10" stroke with a ported LS7 head. 4.125" stroke is the max stroke I would recommend considering the cylinder length, wrist pin placement in the piston, and piston velocity. We just finished engine dyno testing our 454 cid LSX that netted right at 750 FWHP. More to come on that once they have us listed as sponsors this week.
