      Temperature Guage

I have a 2001 chevy camaro 6cly 5 speed. my problem is the temperature guage does not work all the time. it seems like whenever it gets cold out the guage does not move from 0 and the fan seems to stay on for my whole ride. it only seems to happen when it gets cold out. and sometimes if i turn the car off and then back on it will jump to its normal temp. ANY IDEAS WOULD REALLY HELP.

check your thermostat. I had that happen once. Couldn't understand why a V-8 wouldn't heat up. Popped the housing and No thermostat. Put one it and like magic, the gauge started working.

Definitely the thermostat. If you check for trouble codes there is probably a code stored for "engine coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature". For some reason Temperature guage goes to zero and fan runs continuously. Next run cycle the guage might work normal and the fans don't run on. Replace the thermostat and clear diagnostic trouble codes- I've seen this several times.
