      Problem with Edelbrock Water Pump...

I have a new Edelbrock Victor water pump that started leaking from the weep hole after about 75 miles. Has anyone else had problems with Edelbrock too? Should I replace it with a different brand?

Since it took me more than a year to get the car together and on the road, it's no longer under warrantee. Do I have a chance talking directly with Edelbrock and getting a free replacement?

      Thanks,
      Steve

      Steve,
Leave it in for a while and see if it stops. It's not uncommon for them to leak in the case of a pump that was new, or removed from a running car an then reinstalled. I've had that happen often to my race car when tearing it down for winter rebuild. The leak has gone away after running it for a few hours.

You can change the seal inside. You need a press and new seal. Moroso and GM sell a seal. You have to be very careful when pressing on the pump. Support the rear cover area with blocks. DO not just stand the pump on it's engine flanges and press, it will break.

Be sure you have antifreeze or some kind of pump lube in your cooling system.
