      1969 Mustang GT2 project

This is a rendering of how the build will look incl. some "artistic freedom". Not sure if we shave driprails and door handles yet (budget!).

GT2 is for "Gran Tourismo" (in the italian original sense) and Turbo. Some highlights of the parts list, not all parts are final yet as we're only about half way through the shopping:

Ford SB 363 stroker, World Products block, all forged & hyd. roller, 0 balance, Diamond pistons
      Single turbo T-76, intercooler
      Big Stuff 3 ECU
      BBK SSI-R intake
T-56 trans from Pro Motion, McLeod RXT clutch, hydraulic
AJE front coil over struts w/adjustable A-arms, improved roadrace K-member, double adj. Koni's, manual rack & pinion
13" Cobra brakes, 4-piston Brembo calipers
FAB9 9" rear & TrueTrac, TCP leaf spring kit, adj. Varishocks
TCP torque arm & Panhard bar
      11.65" Cobra brakes rear
      18" Shelby CS56 wheels
      Toyo R888 rubber, 265/35 and 315/30
      Speedhut gauges
      69 Deluxe interior, black
      ProCar leather seats
      Rollcage & Simpson harness

To answer some obvious questions right of the bat:
Front suspension: why struts and not UCA / LCA and strut rods? To make room and save weight up front. The AJE front K-member and A-arm setup will save a LOT of weight and make it possible to shave the shock towers to make room for the turbo install. Down under RRS is doing good on the track with strut suspension for Mustangs.
Rear suspension: TCP gBar and EvM 3-link is all the rage for Mustangs so why leaf springs? To be different and to show that it can work! This is a 50/50 street and road race build and the leafs, torque arm and panhard will do a great job if suspension travel is kept small.
Brakes: why no Wilwood 6-piston? Kill or overkill? It's not about bragging rights but selecting the right hammer for the job. Also there IS a budget! ;)

Builder is CPR Streetmachines, engine by Total Performance (of recent Obsidian fame). Both in San Diego.

I'll keep the updates coming, right now it's just a very nice rust free primered shell while we wait for the suspension parts and work on the engine.

I don't know about shaving the drip rails the quarter windows on the 69 stangs are pretty inset and don't look real clean with out the trim. I am really looking forward to watching this build as I am doing a 69 fastback but with more of a pro street look.

Ohh and you have the same two tone idea that my dad and I have, but we are talking about doing a silver and carbon fiber two tone.

No worries Zee, the guys are plenty busy disassembling and building engine. Looking forward to the other color schemes though green will be hard to beat!

Just a quick shot of the car out of the shop. Don't mind the wheels, they're just for rolling around (for sale btw). Waiting for the AJE front suspension, will probably do the 8pt roll-bar in the meantime.

I'll be watching this as well... very exciting stuff. BTW, mach1stang, don't feel too bad... I had to do both front shock towers, full floors, front and rear torque boxes, a pillars, trunk floor, taillight panel, both rear quarters, inner and outer wheel housings, new hood, rear valence, and some odd patches. I got a steal and paid a local Mustang restoration shop (does MCA Gold show cars and all) $4500 for all the work. It helps to pay cash!

That makes feel alittle better, but I did not list all the other stuff we are re-doing, all new floors, new firewall, new cage, and I know there is alot more. Any ways it is really cool that the 69 and 70 mustangs are starting to get some more attention, it seemed to be nothing but 67 and 68 stangs because of the elanore look.

      Update on project

      Zee finished the rear rendering!

The centered exhaust is a challenge but we're splitting the tank partly to get it up there. Tank is getting baffles and dual sumps as well. The exhaust will be a single 3" from the downpipe and then split into 2*2½" under the tank.

Not much progress on actual car but a lot of parts are on the way. T-56 tranny, McLeod clutch, flywheel, hydr. throwout bearing etc. is coming next week from Pro Motion Powertrain. The AJE front coil over setup should be ready the week after and I was in San Diego over the weekend to talk to CPR Streetmachines about a zillion details and go over the engine with Total Performance. Opting for tool steel rings amongst other details.

Been a while since I posted but it's moving along. Most of the parts are now in, long wait for some of it as usual...
