      Muncie M-21 Question

I have a '68 camaro with an M-21 and been having problems with it jumping out of 4th gear while off the gas. I was told that the first thing to do was check the adjustment bolt for 4th gear. Can anyone tell me if I should be looking at the front or rear bolt and what exactly is the adjustment procedure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Mark

The fourth gear bolt should be the one pointing back on the shifter body. After checking that the normal neutral adjustment is correct, put the shifter in 2 and check the stop bolt for binding. Easiest is to back the bolt out and hold the shifter hard into gear while screwing the bolt in. After 2 then try 4, the same way. The shifter has to be adjusted right, and it also has to be fully in gear when adjusting the stops. After this is done, you'll either have a trans that stays in 4th, or you'll know there's something interenal wrong.
