      your opinions please...

So i have a 95 pontiac trans am LT1/T56 that im dropping into my 69 camaro. This is my first engine build and it will be a daily driver.

here are the mods im doing:

      Long tube headers
      2.5 inch dual exhaust
      custom CAI
      Jegs 1.6 Roller Rockers
Compcams CC-305 cam 114 lobe seperation
computer tuning, removale of all emissions programing

I am also replacing all the piston rings, connecting rod bearings, and crankshaft main bearings.

I was curious as to what your thoughts are as to my HP and TQ output with this setup.

And also as to what you think i may be able to hit in the Quarter. I have a set of (i believe) 3.23 in the rear and posi-taction. i will be getting 3.73 later, or do u think 4.11s would be better? Daily driver remember!

      thank you very much guys!

400-425 HP, good TQ with a flat curve. mid to upper 12's with traction. I should also ask about any tb or manifold work.

Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before? Are you out there on the front lines, or at home keeping score?
Do you care to be the layer of the bricks that seal your fate? Would you rather be the architect of what we might create?

unfortunatly those parts i mentioned above have taken over my entire budget for the time being, but eventually im thinking a 54mm throttle body, and maybe an LT4 intake manifold

but both of those are gonna be some time off.

I know some LT1 guys who put down about 340rwhp (about 400 crank) with the same cam and similar setup.

I say it could run a mid to high 12 depending on traction.

A TB should help, but the LT1 manifold should be fine as long is it is port matched to the heads and TB.

BTW: good job on your porject, I was checking out the other thread.

don't re- ring it unless you are going to properly joan the cylinders, they will never seat properly and you will be unhappy.

he meant "hone" i believe, which is basically putting a cross hatch in the cylinder walls(with a ball hone) to better seat the rings to them.

No, sense in going to an LT4 intake if you are using LT1 heads. That's a complete waste of money. Send your heads and intake to this guy when you have the money. Lloyd does fantastic work. www.eportworks.com

      Some opinions

      1) Don't waste your money on the 1.6 rockers. If you think you need more rocker, you really need more cam.

      2) At the point in time you are re-ringing the engine and doing bearings you might as well go for a full rebuild. Dump the crappy factory hyperutecnic pistons for some forged units, and balance the rotating assy.

      3) What computer setup are you planning on using?

      4) the LT1 intake manifold actually ouflows the LT4 intake... it just does not match the LT4 head port. I would suggest spending some money on headwork.
A few years back I did a CNC head/smog-legal cam/shorty header package on a 95 Camaro that pulled over 400RWHP when done. Headwork goes a long way.
