69 camaro advice.
I am in the process of purchasing rims and tires for my stock susp w/ drum brakes. I need your help, what is the max size for rim and tire for 17" and 18". I need to know back-spacing as well. I would like to order this weekend but I don't want to have to send them back when they don't fit. Also where is a good place to pick up tires and rims. Thanks a million.

I would check out www.newstalgiawheel.com and www.americanracing.com they both have simulators you can plug in your car/color/ride height and play around with different wheels, lots of fun.
For a '69 Camaro, you can safely run 17x8's all-around with a 4.5"-4.75" b/s and 245/45's or possibly 255/45's all around.4.75" b/s would be safer and would help keep the tires from getting into the fenders.
If you plan on staggering the tires/wheels,you can run a 17x9.5" rear (5.5" b/s) with a 275/40 rear tire safely...but you can also go up to a 285/40 on most cars without a problem.
I am personally running 17x8's (4.75" b/s) on the front of my '69 w/255/45's and 17x9.5 (5.5" b/s) and 285/40 rubber on the rears with no problems...and my car is slammed low.A nice firm suspension is a must when you go bigger than stock.
All of these cars are different so the key here is measure 16 times, order once.
Good luck with your choices...'67 Buick Skylark GS400 funny car "Ingenue" 8/10 HRM / Gasoline (Swedish) cover & feature 2/12
