Bolt removal
Need advise on repairing left lower fender bolt that goes up into the cowl area on a 71 Nova. The bolt head broke, then I broke the bolt extractor in the bolt. What is the best way to fix/replace this nut? The only thing I can think of is to drill it out completly, weld a nut to a piece of sheet metal and weld that in place of the old nut. I can't get to the backside of the nut. Is there a better way?

i just went through it on both sides of my camaro .take a nut the size of the fender bolt weld it to a decent thickness washer .cut out the old nut in the cowl cut the washer to fit then weld it in place with the nut up inside the cowl . keep the hole in the cowl as small as possible. grind it smooth and ya can't even tell anything was ever done

That should work. I was trying not to add a layer of sheetmetal, even if it were 20 or 22 gauge. I may try to put a heliacoil in it first. Not sure if that is a good idea or not.
