69 Camaro Project

Hello All!

I am a Classic Car owner who is going to do something my Classic Buddies will be furious about.

I want to take the 69 Camaro Z/28 that I have owned for 25 years and build a Classsic SCCA type retro.

I have a kind of had a Mark Donohue tribute car in mind.

As I have been either Drag Racing or Cruising the Classic Tour, I have little experience in the handling dept. and hoped this would be the place to be.

Any advice or comments will be appreciated. I really don't want to get too modern in my approach as it is a retro project. My plan is to go with the Gulstrad mod with stock control arms, Minilite Wheels,and rear discs of some kind.

Any color photos of Camaro racers from that era would be helpful. Under hood shoots too.

Wish me luck...I'll need it when the Resto Purist find out!

The vintage T/A look is pretty straight forward. Stretch the fenders a little, flat hood. Front valance, rear spoiler. Any stock color with Z-28 strips and a gum ball. G-mod. J-56 disks all around. Manual steering, manual brakes. Panasport wheels actually look more like the minilites than the minilites do now. Steel headed 383 painted battle ship gray. Tell folks it's a Traco 302. 4sp. You're there.
