      Header Application

      Hiya guys-

Car is a 70 Camaro, ZZ4, T5 w/ manual clutch linkage. Currenty has rusty headers with the bottoms all smashed to ..., well, pretty beat up.

Was looking for a shorty or mid length header that will clear the clutch cross shaft and snug up really well. I live a mile off pavement in MI, and while it won't be winter driven, the road does get a little knarly in summer if it hasn't been groomed in a awhile.

Anyway, looking for shorty, or mid length headers that will clear a mechanical clutch linkage. Any suggestions? Even consider a long tube if someone put a good word in for model

I saw in some mag that Heddman has a 3/4 length header that will clear the crossshaft. I don't have the part number though. Also check Sanderson headers, they may have some that work as well. Good luck.

I don't know how they'd compliment your setup, but you may want to look into a set of tri-y headers. They offer more room.

Thanks for the input, guys, but I think I'm going to go woth a hydraulic clutch ILO the mechanicall linkage (This is a Kiesler auto to manual kit going into the car) Don't really like block huggers, I think that the hydro clutch will give me more flexibility in header selection downstream.

Try a set of Dougs or Doug Thorley headers. 2 different companies, started by the same guy. Great fit, and they sit close to the floor. No problem with clutch linkage. I've installed a couple of Tko's. Hyd. linkage in some. My car has mechanical linkage. Way less headaches.

Ill second the Tri-Ys, I replaced a set of Hooker comps this year and there is no camparison. I dont know if they are still available, but mine came with the ball/socket collectors and my ground clearance is better than ever.

It doesnt matter which company you purchase from the header number is 375y. They are full length.

SCHOENFELD fit the bill for my project, they fit close to the floorboard and can get them in different primary diameters. I can even take my starter off without loosening the header, the oil filter is a tight fit though. and they are full lenght. Street stock series is what I bought and sent them out for coating. Hope this helps!
