      Fuel Sending Unit reading problem?

      Hi guys

I have got Dakota Digital Gauges in my 72 camaro. I really hate those gauges because they are not practical at all. the fuel gauge was giving accurate readings for the fuel level(not fluctuating ). However, the retarded mechanic took the fuel sending out of the tank to check the strainer. For some reason, after putting it back, it stopped working. Therefore, I had to order a new fuel sending unit from Classic Muscle.

The problem now is that the fuel level reading fluctuates a lot, and not sure if the reading is correct or not. For example, it gives a reading of 75%, then it drops to 52% or goes up to 80ish or a little bit higher. The sending unit works because the reading goes up whenever I fill the tank

Any idea why the reading is fluctuating? I am concerned because I don't know how much gas I have in the tank.

get it resolved yet?? Maybe the new sending unit is a different ohm rating?

I totally forgot about this thread due to lack of people's interest to respond.

Well, still having the same problem. For instance, I drove the car yesterday, and the gauge was showing 60% once, then dropping to 30% and some other readings. Today, I started the car , did not drive it though, the gauge reading was between 58-61%. I am sure the gauge is going to give different reading when driving the car.

This new sending unit is the same as the previous one that was o the car.

I still have not figured this out yet, and I am getting sick of this dakota digital gauges already..
