      trans leak

well my transmission my have bit the dust.

i have an 84 caprice classic with a th-350 transmission.
      it is the original transmission.

it is leaking profusely when i put it in reverse.
it has no prior issues and started suddenly.

its not coming from under the inspection cover with the flexplate and torque converter.
i dont think its coming from the gasket cause i tightened all the bolts and it is still leaking.

its not coming from the back of the transmission with the driveshaft and all that.

it is coming from the front passenger corner of the pan

it only leaks when it is in reverse that i have seen so far.
it may leak slightly in drive, but in reverse it pours out and i get the feeling that if i let it run in reverse for 30 seconds, there would be no fluid left.

      PLEASE HELP

Right above the passenger front corner of the pan are the trans lines the dipstick tube and the downshift linkage cable. I've never seen reverse causing a leak worse than drive. Your trans lines may be rusty and cracking and the movement of the trans in reverse makes it leak more?

below those...try to clean and dry it off the best you can and give it a shot of baby powder. start it up and pop it in to reverse then shut off after 10 sec or less. take a look down there and you should see the source.

How are your motor mounts? I've see a lokar dip stick tube leak when it was put into reverse. It was mounted to the firewall.

i talked to a mechanic and he thinks that it could be a reverse solenoid thing. i dont remember the name cause a friend of mine paraphrased what was said to me.
      what do you think
