73 Camaro Build

I've decided a few of you may get a kick out of my 1973 Camaro build. I don't have the cash to do a real pro tour build (I'm in my 20's) so this thing is very mild by most of your standards I'm sure. Regardless in the future she will get some snakier parts but for the time being this is my story. It begins in August 2015.

Finding these things is Canada is really hard, but never the less I found one. I am the second owner and the car was all original when I got it. It is a base model boring 307 car, originally orange. The previous owner lost his marbles and painted everything with house paint. The car was pretty solid, at least for being in Canada.











This is the first time I've done body work so I went all in, real quick.













It took many hours for me to get a decent fit. Everything seemed miles off.

My original plan for the car was flat black paint and a mild 350. I tried as hard as I could to really get a lot of body work done before summer. The goal was always to have the body done in the first year. I originally thought I could have the whole car done in a year.

Got this 99 long crank 6.0L for cheap



Also grabbed this trans from North Carolina. Allegedly an ex Nascar Cup trans, it's got mag cases, it's rollerized and it's got custom internals.







Threw an RS clip on her



She sits on Hotchkis springs for the time being



Threw a 225/230 and LS3 heads on the 6.0, the new plan, carb'd LS !!

Blocked the thing to death











She's come a long way in that year..

Sprayed the hood at 5am before work



Hand laid stripes were important to me. The curve on these stripes is eyeballed on the front. On the rear it is a different stripe than factory as it runs parallel with the trunk and then constant width over the spoiler.









Rented a booth to spray the rest..

Finally started throwing the engine together... Milled the heads a lil







First paint job ever looks decent after wet sanding and polishing








Did a chevy blazer rear disk conversion




Also decided to go EFI..







Built my own harness from scratch for the microsquirt ECU



Also made some ugly steam tube fittings for the rear





Modded a super rare 70 U14 cluster with an oil pressure gauge and a shift light :D



Got a free wilwood clutch setup so I built a bracket for it and went to it



Mcleod bell for a sm465 truck with adapter ring to fit the ST10..it was cheap haha



GTA wheels for this summer





Designed/built my own serpentine setup

Very nice. This is what it's all about- seeing it go from something very undriveable to something to be very proud of. Pretty brave of you to tear into the rusted panels like that And it's not always about huge budgets etc. Keep up the good work
