      GTO front brake conversion

I am currently doing a front disc brake conversion on my 1968 GTO. I just got my ATS spindles, and want to know if I can use a newer GTO caliper with a c5 or c6 rotor on this setup. Im new to the A-body so bear with me please.

sorry can't answer all your questions but i had C5 stuff on my 70 GTO and bought some GTO calipers from Ebay and they bolted right up in place of the C5 ones. my rotors are drilled GM performance parts for the C5, about $45.00 from GM parts direct.

C5 and C6 rotors are interchangeable and will fit the same, with the primary difference between the two being the hat design. For the C6 'vettes, they changed over to a heat-dam design hat which is less prone to coning the disc due to thermal expansion. Many aftermarket companies (BAER comes to mind) sell the same rotors for both applications. Others (e.g. DBA) mimic the OE design.

The OE C6 rotors are pillar vane and plain...not bad rotors but a bit pricey. The OE C6 Z51 and Z06 rotors are a hodge-podge of directional vane and pillar vane and available on in drilled, and left hand at that. Who knows what GM was thinking?

The caliper bodies will definitely swap between the GTO and C5/C6 applications, not sure about the pad abutment brackets though. Due to different knuckles, I think they were different with the GTO using a different LH and RH PAB...working from memory though, so I could be thinking about something else. Hope that helps.
