3rd Gen Steering Box in a 2nd Gen

Has anyone done this? I've read this and that saying its possible but never any details. Anyone have any insight on this? Perhaps casting numbers, part numbers so when I go to the junk yard I can get the right one? Obviously, Im looking to get a quick ratio --- 12:1 or so.

I put a '92 box in my '72 last month.
      Only issues are:
      1) Newer box uses o-ring fittings instead of inverted flare on the hoses.
      2) Coupler between box and column on old box is larger splined shaft. I think it changed in '79 or '80, so a coupler from 79-81 will probably work. I used a coupler from an '89 Suburban temporarily, but will soon convert entire column to borgeson stainless shft and u-joints.

You're going to want to grab a certain box though. It came on the IROC and WS6 cars. I can't remember but I want to say it had a Z stamped on the side of the box to distinguish it. I wish I could give more specific info but I have heard of it and it's not a bad mod

The one I have came from a 92 RS with F41 suspension and 16" wheels. I've been told this one's one of the better boxes. It has an XH stamp on the cover. It's exactly the same as the one in my '92, but I've seen these in 89-92 Z28 and TA with 16" wheels. (it also has the Z casting)
Saw three in the junkyard last weekend.
