It should start up media player. It's just video of Bonds hitting 756.

      Who cares!!

Can't wait until it is his turn to be on the ballot for Coopertown, lets see if the sports writers have to eat their hats, if McGwire does not go, neither does Barry. What a joke this whole homerun thing has become, first the juiced ball, now the juiced athlete, whats next, the bat maybe! Oh, nevermind, Sosa already corked it!

Now all we can do is hope nothing happens to A-rod and he breaks Barry's record so at a minimun we won't have to * this......

      I agree with BADVELLE.

Baseball is about one of the lamest sports on TV.
Besides it is not comparing apples to apples that he has beat Hank Arron's record. Heck with enough steroids I could beat it.

No, Yankees actually. Writing on the computer always comes out the wrong way, just giving you the business! I just love the sport so much and hate to see this type of situation, but thing I guess it happens in every sport in one way or the other.

How so? Both competed after the color barrier was broken?

You could argue that it was tougher for Bonds. Bigger average park size, a much lower average ERA for the pitchers Bonds has faced, Bonds had fewer at bats and far more BB.

Bonds may have used steroids, Aaron has admitted to using amphetimines.

I don't know about photos. My brother isn't the most photo-oriented fellow. He goes to about 20 games a year.

I've been to dozens of games at Candlestick, but only one exhibition game at at&t Park.

And for the record, baseball is the greatest game known to man. Also for the record: you can take steroids until your nuts are the size of raisins and not be able to hit a home run in the big leagues.

      jp

ps. I don't condone Bonds' actions, and find his whole persona distasteful. But hey, my guy Griffey (I'm a Reds guy since the 60s) isn't the nicest guy either. Word is he's clean, and it's clear Bonds isn't. Steroids make a difference. But they don't take you from zero to 756.

I don't care for Bonds and his "record" doesn't exite me at all..

He's a jerk + he juiced = me not caring

That's not to say he isn't a great athelete, just that he needed to take drugs to get this record done at this time. Oh and he's an a-hole.. lol

No, but they could take you from 550 to 756. His "pumping up" added years to his career and when he normally would have been getting weaker with age (harder to hit HRs) he was getting stronger.

Baseball is great but Bonds sucks as a human being...

Bonds is an ahole. Thought it for years. View hasn't changed. He is just an ahole with a record now.

We'll never know, but I agree with that sentiment. On the other hand Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire were both done (nobody bothered to tell Sosa this year, lol) by age 38 or so. And it seems pretty evident that they were both steroids abusers. Separating Bonds the man from Bonds the chemical experiment is impossible. I think that will be his legacy: we'll never know, and most people will believe that his numbers are inflated.

As long as there is a great big * next to his "record" I won't complain. I haven't had much respect for him because of his self-centered, primadonna attitude or his unconscionable willingness to do whatever he has to do to elevate his personal stats.

Here's an off-the-wall conspiracy theory article that I read this morning, who knows if there's any shred of truth in it. The reference to the Homerun Derby performance was interesting though. Read the feedback too, some of it's pretty funny.

I think we may be much of the problem on this one... Let's face it, we used to think that athletes were cool, now we (as in Americans) worship the damned people. I think this helps lead to the abuses, the inflated egos, etc. Beyond that, look how many of us will cheat at anything to get ahead.

Just as an example, the other day I over heard someone bragging about how the cashier at the local grocery store failed to ring up a pretty sizeable purchase of steaks. The way the guy explained it, the steaks didn't scan, so he "quickly bagged them" before the cashier noticed.

"We" do this sort of stuff all the time. Hell, "we" are so sure that there is nothing wrong with this sort of attitude that we'll even brag about it with out kids there!

"We," as a collective whole will break any rule we think might get us ahead, even a little bit. No cop, no stop. Speed limit, what's that? Not my fault, he didn't ring it up. We've all done it, only now it's an epidemic, and for some odd reason we're shocked and ticked when some dipsh** baseball player does it? Funny.

I'll quietly step off of my soap box now
