      Collapsing upper rad hose...

      Hey guys,
I was under the hood of my '67 Bird with a Pontiac 350 block, and noticed the upper radiator hose was almost collapsed on it self. And after the car sets and cools it'll stay like that until I open the radiator cap.
The car doesn't run any different and I have not been running any different temperture wise.
It's been hot here lately and still 180 to 200 degrees.

Any ideas what is going on?

      Thanks

Check the cap or the overflow hose. Sounds like a clog. I've had cars do it only slightly, when cooling. Never sucked nearly flat.

When you say clog, where do I look for it at?

Do you have an overflow tank? If so, run the line from the rad filler neck to the bottom of the overflow tank and then vent the upper line.

Ok, up untill now the line in to the custom overflow tank has gone in to the top and a petcock was screwed in to the bottom.
I'll switch the line and vent the top.
      Thanks

Well guys I fixed and didn't even get dirty!!
I stopped by my favorite local parts store where they know me and my car to buy some antifreeze, and the main guy asked if I "sprung a leak??", so I explained what was going on and I was anticipating having to top it off, by time all was said and done.
He told me to wait a minute and walked off, came back a minute or two later with a small box rang them both up then handed it to me. Said try this first.

In the box was a new radiator cap.
I told him someone mentioned the cap, and
asked why would a new cap fix my problem.
He said they go bad too, trust me.

Guess what....$3.99 for a new radiator cap and no more callapsing hose!!

      Who would have thunk it?

      Thanks for you help guys.
